SWiCH Dermal Rejuvination System

The SWiCH™ is a scientific breakthrough treatment that helps enhance mitochondrial function and restores skin to its youthful appearance.

Skin Type:
Aging, photo-damaged or environmentally-damaged skin.

The Philosophy behind SWiCH ™
The SWiCH™ is an effective alternative to chemical peeling. This treatment represents a new generation of skin care products designed to take advantage of the skin’s biochemistry and, in particular, the skin repair mechanisms.

Chemical peeling has been practiced for many years to improve the appearance of damaged and aging skin. This method relies on the skin’s ability to repair itself after injury. A chemical peel burns off the surface of the skin causing an injury which turns on the body’s repair process. Why is this good? When the repair process kicks in, our body pushes new and healthy cells to the surface and our collagen and elastin production increases in order to ‘heal the injury’. However, consistent damage to the epidermis may lead to more serious side effects, cause free radicals, and eventually may do more harm than good.

With the SWiCH™, it is possible to trigger that repair system without significant injury to the epidermis.

The SWiCH™ is based on the physiological principal of inducing the natural repair process in the skin to become active. There are many repair systems in the body, some are molecular, some are cellular, and some work on tissue repair such as wound healing. All of these systems require energy, regardless of the type of repair. Biological energy comes in the form of adenosine triphosphate, or ATP (an energy source for our cells). The major system in our body that extracts energy from the food we eat is called the Kreb’s cycle.

Picture a little water wheel or a Ferris wheel. This is what the Kreb’s cycle looks like.
Each seat or shelf on this wheel holds an important ingredient that is needed to keep the wheel turning. As the wheel turns, it generates energy, or ATP. This energy is what feeds the skin cycle or cell turnover and signals the dermis to make collage and elastin.

Think about our body’s metabolism and how we need to exercise in order to burn calories. As we age, we find that we need to exercise more and eat less to maintain a healthy weight because our body’s metabolism slows down. We need to speed up our metabolism to keep burning calories to maintain our youthful, healthy weight. The more we exercise, the more energy we will have and the more calories we burn.

As we age, our cell turnover which his normally every 28 days slows down to approximately every 35-38 days. The key to slowing the aging process and keeping a healthy surface of skin is speeding up that cell turnover and keeping it moving. The SWiCH feeds the Kreb’s cycle which in turn, increases the energy and switches on the repair system – all without having to cause significant injury to the epidermis.
